Position in Poker Explained Safely

Position describes where a player acts in relation to the dealer button and other players. It affects information order, not guaranteed results.

This page explains the term. It does not teach poker tactics or promise better outcomes.

Position terms

Button
The dealer-position marker. It changes each hand and affects action order.
Blinds
Forced-bet positions that usually act early after the flop.
Early position
Seats that act earlier and have less information.
Late position
Seats that act later and see more actions before deciding.
