Which sportsbooks are authorized in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts currently authorizes seven online/mobile sportsbook brands—Bally Bet, BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, Fanatics Betting & Gaming, FanDuel and theScore Bet—and three retail sportsbooks at Encore Boston Harbor, MGM Springfield and Plainridge Park Casino. Each must appear in the Massachusetts Gaming Commission’s current license evidence, but the public brand may differ from the licensed legal entity: theScore Bet operates under Penn Sports Interactive, LLC. An app listing, promotion, application, former license or authorization in another state does not establish current Massachusetts approval.
The latest MGC operating evidence checked July 29, 2026 resolves to seven Category 3 online/mobile brands and three Category 1 retail sportsbooks. The rows are an authorization check, not a ranking, endorsement or statement that every product term is identical.
Read each row across. A public brand can differ from the legal licensee, and a tether partner is a relationship—not a substitute for the Category 3 operator. Current means corroborated by the MGC roster and June 2026 operating evidence checked July 29.

Repeatable source chain
Verify one Massachusetts sportsbook in five checks
No single seal, app listing, advertisement or old article is enough. Apply all five checks to the exact public name and channel.
1
Find the exact public name on the current MGC roster
Pass: the online/mobile brand or retail property appears on the current MGC sports-wagering license route. Stop: a similar national name, old seal, application, former listing or another-state license is not a match.
2
Match the public name to the legal licensee
Pass: the MGC profile or decision supplies the same brand-to-entity chain shown in the ledger. Stop: do not replace the Category 3 entity with its tether property, or treat a vendor as the operator.
3
Confirm the Chapter 23N category and relationship
Pass: the record identifies Category 3 tethered or untethered, or Category 1 retail, for the channel being checked. Stop: never transfer a Chapter 23K casino category into the Chapter 23N sports register.
4
Corroborate current operation with the latest dated evidence
Pass: the exact name and channel appear in the latest roster-bearing MGC release and detailed operating report. Stop: an undated roster or old launch article alone does not resolve a current-status conflict.
5
Use active house rules and the applicable digital seal as additional checks
Pass: the exact MGC licensee or property profile exposes the active Massachusetts house-rule route; for an online/mobile platform, its displayed MGC seal matches the official digital-seal record. Stop: a copied seal, obsolete house rules, generic terms page or accepted account screen cannot independently establish current operation.
All five match: current Massachusetts authorization is supported for that exact name and channel as of the evidence date. This is not a recommendation and does not prove every wager, account, funding method, settlement or payout term.
Any mismatch or unknown: do not treat the name as currently authorized. Recheck the MGC records or use the general sports-betting or complaint guide for the different question.
One licensee, changing public names
Why theScore Bet and Penn Sports Interactive are one authorization chain
Penn Sports Interactive, LLC remained the Massachusetts Category 3 licensee while the consumer-facing sportsbook name changed. Each public brand is not a separate current authorization.
Barstool Sportsbook public launch
Penn Sports Interactive operated the Massachusetts Category 3 channel under the Barstool Sportsbook public brand.
Public brand changes to ESPN BET
The consumer name changed; Penn remained the legal Massachusetts operator. ESPN BET was not a second Penn license.
Public brand changes to theScore Bet
MGC records made theScore Bet the current public name while Penn remained the Category 3 licensee. Score Media and Gaming is not presented as the Massachusetts operator.
Current evidence checkpoint
The June 2026 operating evidence and current license route support theScore Bet as the current public brand and Penn Sports Interactive, LLC as the licensee.

License evidence has limits
What current sportsbook authorization does—and does not—prove
Authorization is not a recommendation
Current MGC evidence supports operation for a channel; it does not rank quality, value, safety, service, odds or promotions.
Authorization is not every event or wager
The broad sports license does not prove that one event/market is permitted or offered. Use the sports-betting owner, current catalog and exact Massachusetts house rules.
A tether is not the same legal entity
The Category 3 licensee and Category 1 partner remain separate rows/entities unless the MGC record expressly says otherwise.
A digital seal or app listing is not conclusive alone
For an applicable online/mobile platform, use the official MGC seal only as an additional signal after the current roster, entity/category and dated-operation checks match; active house rules remain a separate check for all ten operations.
Current operation is not universal account access
Authorization does not promise account acceptance, every funding method, bonus, limit, settlement, withdrawal timing or payout result.
Sports authority does not transfer to another product
A Chapter 23N sports credential does not authorize online casino games, sweepstakes, prediction contracts or a separate gambling product.
