Prepared by The Playbook USA Editorial Team
Reviewed against current Illinois Gaming Board operating, master-license and monthly activity records on July 26, 2026. This guide is public information, not legal advice or a claim of first-hand sportsbook testing.
Why the official Illinois counts do not line up
A consumer operating-roster view. It is not the count of every licensed master or every physical betting point.
A legal-entity/status universe. Licensed or Approved does not by itself establish current appearance on the consumer operating roster.
A lagged activity report. It does not establish post-report current authorization, and it cannot resolve the newer roster omission.
Use a labeled unit every time: online product, operating-table row, named retail sportsbook, master licensee, Not Operational entry or reporting master. Never shorten those units to one unsupported total of “Illinois sportsbooks.”
How to verify one Illinois sportsbook
-

Match the consumer record
Find the exact online name, retail name or partnership wording on IGB’s current Authorized Operating Sportsbooks page. A similar national brand, app-store listing, website availability or out-of-state license is not a match.
-

Match the master legal entity
Use the Licensee column from the operating page, then find that exact entity in IGB’s Master Sports Wagering list. Record the license status/effective date and the separate wagering status.
-

Classify only what the records prove
A current operating-table row supports a listed conclusion; the current Not Operational heading supports that exact label. A license, approval or monthly activity row alone does not replace the operating roster.
-

Stop at a conflict
If the exact record is absent, changed or contradictory, do not guess from history or a commercial list. Recheck both current IGB pages and submit an IGB Online Inquiry for the unresolved status.

What this register does not prove
Not a ranking or quality score
IGB listing and license status do not prove better odds, account service, pricing, limits, reliability, payout speed or value. This page recommends no operator.
Not every physical betting point
The current table contains 13 named retail sportsbooks and one Walker’s Bluff partnership cell. Qualifying organization masters may use separately authorized inter-track locations, but the reviewed records do not identify every current sportsbook window or kiosk.
Not another gambling product
A sportsbook record does not authorize online casino games, fantasy contests, prediction contracts, sweepstakes, social betting or an offshore product. Use the record for the exact Illinois sports-wagering channel only.
Not a wager or account verdict
Authorization does not answer bettor age, physical location, event eligibility, funding, house rules, grading, cancellation, void, payout or complaint outcome. Those decisions remain with the parent guide and operator/IGB records.
