How many physical casinos are in West Virginia?
West Virginia has five regulated physical casino properties: four racetrack casinos—Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, Mardi Gras Casino & Resort, Mountaineer Casino Resort and Wheeling Island Hotel, Casino & Racetrack—plus The Casino Club at The Greenbrier. Casino-floor gambling is 21+. The Greenbrier is not unrestricted walk-in gaming, and racing areas follow separate rules. Limited Video Lottery locations and online casino apps are different markets, not extra land-based casinos.

The Racing Commission roster contains Hollywood Charles Town, Mardi Gras, Mountaineer and Wheeling Island. It does not include Greenbrier because Greenbrier has no racetrack.
1 historic-resort gaming facility
West Virginia law permits one historic-resort gaming-facility license. This is the separate Greenbrier lane, with its own patron-access rules.
Limited Video Lottery is separate
LVL retailers and terminals are not additional full-service casino properties. Their location and terminal workflow belongs to the dedicated LVL guide.
Online products are separate
Online casino apps and public brands belong to a separate market and do not change the five-property count.

Five checks before you travel
1 · Use the physical address
For Mardi Gras, use Cross Lanes. For Mountaineer, use New Cumberland; Chester is the checked mailing locality, not the visitor address.
2 · Confirm age and access
Casino floors are 21+. A race-side 18+ rule does not open the casino floor. Greenbrier visitors must also fit a current eligible access category; event or convention attendance depends on the property’s more-than-400-occupied-room condition.
3 · Check the exact department
The casino floor, poker room, table games, live racing, simulcast and hotel can use different schedules. A general property-hours statement does not prove each department is operating.
4 · Treat counts as snapshots
Machines, open tables, poker availability, amenities and calendars can change. Use the dated first-party figure for scale, then confirm the item you care about on the travel day.
5 · Stop when the trip is creating pressure
